International Journal of Social Sciences and Education , 2011,
Abstract: Socioeconomic status (SES) is a combined measure of an individual's or family’s economic and social position relative to others, based on income, education, and occupation. When analyzing a family’s SES, the mother's and father’s education and occupation are examined, as well as combined income, versus with an individual, when their own attributes are assessed (GOP,2008). The article is based on a study, which is an attempt to explore the various factors that have an impact on achievement, depending upon different socioeconomic status in the society and how does it effect the academic achievement of students. The study also examines the literature that reveals that the socioeconomic status of the parents can significantly contribute in the achievement of good grades at colleges. The paper illustrates the impact of income, occupation on educational attainment of students. The paper delineates the effect of many socioeconomic indicators on individual student achievement.

Abstract: School is a social agency that is entrusted with the task of transmitting cultural and social values and curriculum is an effective tool to achieve these goals. To gauge the effectiveness of this tool constant effort is needed. Therefore, revision and improvement in curriculum is necessary to meet the emerging challenges. This study aimed at eliciting Senior Secondary Teachers’ views on secondary school curriculum in Pakistan. The specific objectives of the study were __ to determine Teachers’ views regarding correspondence of curriculum with the needs and aspirations of the country, to examine the changes made in the curriculum from time to time and to analyze the existing position of secondary school curriculum. Senior Secondary Teachers of Federal Government and modal schools from the lists of Federal Directorate of Education were chosen that constituted the population of this study. As regards private schools, the institutions were identified personally. Major findings of the study were as follows: all Secondary Teachers were not satisfied with the curriculum inherited from the British in meeting the future manpower needs of the society; curriculum was not according to students’ abilities; previous studies were not taken into consideration while making a new curriculum; teachers were not properly trained in implementation of curriculum; there was lack of coordination between curriculum centre, examination bodies, teachers training institutions and textbook boards. On the basis of findings and conclusions, the following recommendations were made. The process of curriculum development should be harmonized with the culture and the society; Curriculum planners should be well trained, qualified and competent enough. Continuous research should be carried out to remove the draw-backs in the current curricula. The curriculum should be in accordance with Islamic, cultural, social, political and economic needs of the country.

International Online Journal of Educational Sciences , 2010,
Abstract: Teaching practice is the most important part of teacher training programme. It should be the central pivot of the professional training. Good and effective teaching is an achievable art, but hard work, patience and struggle is needed for it. Teaching practice is the practical aspect of teacher training and it is an assortment of factual and dramatic characteristics. During the teaching practice student teachers find an opportunity to use the acquired knowledge, especially in the areas of psychology, teaching methods, teaching principles and teaching techniques. During teaching practice student teachers are like apprentices to acquire skills. Teaching practice is a valuable opportunity, where student teachers are in a position to increase their knowledge, do experiments on the basis of acquired knowledge and to solve the problems related to teaching. Student teachers which are on teaching practice, if they are aware about their lacking experience and need of more learning, as well as willing to learn and gain, then they can learn practically much more from experienced teachers and teacher educators. During teaching practice, it is not only that they have opportunity of teaching but they also have the opportunity to observe inside and outside of the classroom. In this connection data was collected from 650 student/prospective teachers who have completed their teaching practice and it was found that in Pakistan teaching practice is not taken seriously and many interesting findings were found in this regard.

Atmospheric and Climate Sciences (ACS) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/acs.2016.63033
Abstract: The work discusses the temperature and precipitation fluctuation of Madinah-Al-Munawara, Saudi Arabia for a time period of 1959-2011. This is a city in the Hejaz region of western Saudi Arabia, the capital of Al Madinah Province and important religious place. For many years now, Royal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is active on national as well as international levels to adopt a more suitable policy for the study of climate changes and reviews it periodically as per country economic desires. The main sectors that affect the temperature and precipitation fluctuations in Saudi Arabia are surface water, coastal management, overgrazing, forestry, livestock, drought, desertification, industrialization, landuse change, tourism, and aridity etc. The paper analyzes the temperature and precipitation fluctuations of Madinah-Al-Munawara in terms of general climatology, climate fluctuation/variation, seasonal distribution and extreme weather events. The mean monthly temperature of the city recorded during 1959-2011 is 28°C having mean maximum temperature of 34°C and mean minimum of 21°C. The mean monthly temperature of the city shows an increase of 1.7°C having 1.2°C increase in maximum temperature and decrease of -1.9°C in minimum temperature. Generally, there is a rise and fall in the temperature condition and shows irregular pattern throughout the period. The total precipitation of the city is 36 millimeters; having a decrease of -0.3 millimeters but in general the trend of precipitation at Madinah-Al-Munawara shows an increasing trend throughout the period. April and November are the wettest, while June, August, September and October are the hottest months of the city. The area is characterized by two main seasons that is winter (5 months) and summer (7 months), which can further be sub-divided into four rainy seasons namely winter, post-winter, summer, and post-summer seasons.
Assessing land use change and moving sand transport in the western Hodna basin (central Algerian steppe ecosystems)

Abstract: DOI: 10.26650/forestist.2019.19005 The application of land use and land cover change (LULC) techniques for identifying the state of the environment is both a suitable tool and cost-effective. The study was conducted in the western part of the Hodna Basin (province of M’sila, Algeria). In this study, we combined remotely sensed data and ground truth observations to analyze the trends of LULC and their drivers during the 30 years from 1984 to 2014. In addition, we evaluated the sand transport using wind data. We assessed LULC using the supervised image classification method. The results indicated that rangelands experienced a considerable decrease with 50,000 hectares. This shrinkage in rangelands cover is associated with an expansion in bare soil cover with an increase of 57,000 hectares. Furthermore, woody vegetation and sand experienced a decrease in their cover. However, there is an increase in agriculture area. The analysis of land cover of sand indicated a decrease in the area of this class, and the assessment of wind data revealed that within the study area there is a transition zone of moving sands. The dynamic of LULC was mostly conducted by the anthropogenic and overgrazing factors. These drivers have a considerable role in the patterning of different types of land cover in the investigated landscape. We can conclude that the LULC technique used for the assessment of the environmental state identified a regressive trend of ecosystem values and a process of land degradation which implies the need for implementation of sustainable management practices.
